Nechitailo, Vasili K.
Vasili Nechitailo was born January 9, 1915 in Moscow. He graduated from the Surikov Art Institute, where he studied under the famous Soviet artist Sergei Gerasimov. In 1944, Nechitailo became a member of the Union of Moscow Artists. From 1948-56 he was a professor at the Moscow State Art Institute. He was named People's Merited Artist of the Soviet Union in 1965. Twice he received the Repin State Award and became a member of the Art Academy. Nechitailo worked in Spain, Bulgaria, Italy and participated in many regional and all-Union exhibitions in the former Soviet Union.
His work is found in the museum collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, Kiev Museum of Art, State Art Museum of Turkmenia Republic, Vereshagin Art Museum in Nikolaev, Museum of Fine Arts in Volgograd and various other regional museums throughout Russia and the Former Soviet Republics, also private collections.
